Fede Rico mate is produced by the large Paraguayan FD Group, which consists of two companies: Rio Itambley S.A and Valle Verde S.A. The group was formed in 1983, and at the beginning of its activities acquired the assets of a German bank located in Paraguay. FD specializes in agriculture, animal husbandry and growing tropical fruits. An important activity of the company is the production of environmentally friendly varieties of yerba mate. Holly plantations are located in the pristine rainforest of Paraguay, in places with impeccable ecology, allowing the company to produce organic yerba varieties to exceptionally high standards. Yerba Fede Rico has a standard Paraguayan grind - high dust content (polvo) and fairly large stems. Mate woody aroma with notes of smoke. The taste is rich, tart, with a characteristic bitterness.

The taste and aroma are very smoky for a classic Paraguayan yerba. The addition of catuaba also adds some harshness to the flavor, and it also serves as an aphrodisiac and enhances the invigorating properties of this drink.
