This 18 months aged yerba is one of the best regular brands you will find around. It has a medium intensity and the more you drink it the "sweeter" it becomes. Its sweetness brings to mind the taste of honey and white sugar. Balancing this saccharine medley of notes is a solid base of wet grass, vegetal soil, and pine. It’s not as earthy or bitter as you’d expect from other brands.

The leaves are mostly a medium-to-large size. There are plenty of stems within this blend to balance out the mate.

  Due to its treatment process, which isolates the leaves from smoke during drying and very long ageing (up to 18 months) we get a delicious product with very light bitterness. Aguantadora products are dried only with hot air for about 6 to 8 hours, so that the product is smoke-free ( sin humo ). Literally translated as “sturdy woman” this is rough, rustic and full of delightfully earthy flavours.

In 2016 "Aguantadora" won the "Caminos y Sabores" prize for best yerba mate of the year, so we can trust that an award in a country where most people drink mate on a daily basis, is good enough to give this product a try!

AGUANTADORA Traditional yerba is produced by Cooperativa Agrícola Mixta de Monte Carlo, which has been in business since 1930. As this producer is a Cooperative, local farmers from the region of Montecarlo and its surroundings contribute their harvest so that Aguantadora can be produced supporting the communities.
